This is a BRIGHT bulb in a small package. It was designed for the Aviation and Marine markets because of the available space in some wing-tip lights and the bow nav light in some boats. It is available in several different bases; this single contact base, 1076-BA15D dual contact base with the pins opposite each other near the base of the bulb, and 1157 BAY15D dual contact base with the registration pins staggered.
